Nerds and Vintage Jewels

This weekend was another busy one. I spent part of the weekend in Richmond where one of my best friends lives. She moved into a new apartment and, since so many of us have moved to different towns, Richmond is usually where we meet up so it worked out perfectly for some of us to go visit.

The three of us ran some fun errands. I transformed into the nerdiest of nerds.

I think the tag just gives it that extra, nerdy touch. What do you think? Might have to look into getting these.

We stuffed ourselves with Sweet Frog for lunch, ha [I had never had their frozen yogurt before] and then went to a fun pizza place downtown later for dinner. We may or may not have also gotten a couple cupcakes and saved those for later...

My friend’s apartment was so awesome! It’s one of those old warehouses that has been gutted out and totally renovated – huge wooden beams, brick walls, and views like this:

The rest of the weekend was filled with some antique shopping in Alexandria – a couple places my Mom used to go to. She must have been looking out for me because I found something she and I had been talking about for ages! I’ll share it with you once it’s all set up :) Here are some other beauties I came across. Heaven!

Vintage jewelry everywhere! I’ve been making it a weekend ritual to go visit my Mom’s grave so, I did that as I mentioned yesterday. It was peaceful but still just didn’t feel real. It never will. The sights near my Mom’s cemetery are just beautiful. Here’s the Masonic Temple, one of the city’s famous landmarks.

Lastly, on Sunday, I got to hang out with this little lady. I just love my niece! My favorite thing to tell her to say is the word “me.” She puts her hand on her chest, smiles real big and says, “Meeeee.” How cute. She’s also pretty excited about her St. Patrick’s Day headband :)

I think one of these weekends I seriously need to make a PLAN to not make any plans other than just sitting down and relaxing. Decent sleep has been hard to get and my body and mind aren’t getting the recuperation they need. One day…

The best weekends are the ones with nothing to do! I LOVE those old warehouse apartments. SOOOO Awesome and my dream is to live in one one day, but sadly, that will probably never happen. There is nothing like that by me here in the burbs. Also, I'm obsessed with vintage and totally jealous of your shopping! I totally need to go antiquing stat!

I absolutely love ALL jewelry..those antique bracelets are amazing! and your niece is too cute...love her headband!

I found your blog through another that I follow, and I just wanted to say that I am so sorry about the loss of your mom. I lost my mom to lung cancer when I was 11, and I miss her more and more everyday. But like you said in this post, your mom is definitely still with you and she always will be. Moms are special like that. Continuing to think about you and praying for you!

Busy weekends are fun but so are the ones where you stay in sweatpants the whole time and lounge and eat bon bons and all that good stuff. I think you totally need one of THOSE weekends :)

I lived in one of those old warehouse apts!! :) Such a good time! I have to say though that while I am glad for the experience, I much prefer my 'burbs...need the convenience of a drive-thru Starbucks, grocery store, dry cleaner, and Target all in one place!

This makes me miss my old stompin' grounds of NoVA! I LOVE Old Town Alexandria :)

I love your first picture! Cute nerd. LOL

And can I come visit there? And steal your friends apartment!?! That is like a dream apartment...I wish they had those in Vegas...or if I could afford a snazzy condo near the strip.

But get some sleep!!! I've been doing the same, and I have so much stuff the rest of the weekends in March. Ah!
