I Need Your Help | Blog Editing

You know what I loved? Windows Live Writer. I used it to write all of my blog posts, insert any pictures/media I wanted to use, etc. It was easy to format the font, style, and edit picture sizes. Windows Live Writer was my little genius and just made life in bloggyland easier.

Back in the day, when Life is a Sunset was first born, it was hosted on Wordpress. Wordpress is known for being super user-friendly. It was. I loved it. I switched over to Blogger because that's where the main "bloggy community" is that I wanted to join in on. So, here I am. However, now as the new, proud owner of a MacBook, using Windows Live Writer is no longer an option [as far as I know.] I have tried to write my posts using Blogger and I just can't tolerate it. I constantly have to try dragging my pictures around because they all load into the top of the window. My HTML formatting always gets all yucky. It's harder to customize fonts. And, well... I just don't trust Blogger like I trusted Windows Live Writer. I might as well use a typewriter.

So, Mac friends... what are my options?

Is there another program similar to WLW that you recommend? I tried downloading Qumana and it won't let me log into my Blogger account. I tried Scribefire as well but it won't let me upload pictures from my computer. I heard MarsEdit is a decent option but I know it costs money. Is it worth it? I need your help.

Also, while I’m writing, let’s talk for a minute about horoscopes. I don’t necessarily base my day around them but, every so often when I’m bored, I’ll read mine. Yesterday was one of those days. I just wasn’t feeling it. So, I read my horoscope and here’s what I found… Rather fitting if you ask me:

“You're not feeling very motivated today because it seems as if your dreams have overtaken the real world.
This surreal outlook challenges you to get a handle on what you need to do, and the harder you try, the worse it gets.
Happily, this is a great day to lose yourself in a fantasy or visualize an alternative future for yourself.
Don't worry about the lack of tangible results now; you will be able to make up for lost time later on.”

Do you read your horoscope for fun too?

sorry, have no useful tips but am eagerly awaiting some replies! I am not a fan of the blogger format either. Few things drive me more crazy than uploading a photo 20 minutes after having typed out a novel (because I forgot. woops) and having it zoom to the top of the page. Tests my patience every time!

I'm on an HP half the time though so maybe I'll have to look into this magic Windows product you talk about!

I had the same issue & was wondering why I could never change my fonts or center my text. Instead of being in the "HTML" screen switch to the "compose." have you tried that? I wrote about it in this blog post but you are going to have to scroll down a bit. I hope this helps- but you might have already tried this. I've never used that windows program but I have an hp so I'm going to have to give it a shot.

It's really not user friendly especially when you try to insert pictures...You have to use another program just to resize pictures the way you want them to look like...Hope you find good answers soon. <3

Sorry, not a Macbook owner I am afraid (in my dreams), but thanks for the Windows Live Writer tip ... that sounds interesting and will have to check it out.

I am not a devout believer in horoscopes, but find them interesting to read nevertheless. I also find the general characteristics interesting. I'm a sagittarius, for example, and there are a lot of the general characteristics of sagittarians that I have. Some might argue it's just coincidence etc. ... but who cares. They are fun and as long as they don't affect your life in any way ... why ever not.

I have a MacBook. I also use the compose tab when writing posts. When uploading pictures, I upload it from the computer via the button in blogger. I haven't any issues when writing posts, except blogger likes to add spaces in posts that you can't get rid of, but that's happened to a lot of people. I wish I could be more help... I would just use the compose tab, instead HTML tab. That's what has been working for me.

I don't have a MacBook so I am not sure if these options will work but here is what I found.

This article talks about a edit tool called MarsEdit.

This article talks about how you can run Windows Live Writer on your Mac.

I hope one of them helps. I currently write all of my posts in Blogger and have had similar problems. My main one is with pictures. I think I will have to try Windows Live Writer. If I need help I know where to go! Thanks for the tip on the tool.

i have a macbook pro and use blogger to write my posts. i didn't know there were better options?? haha

anyways, i have the program called parallels installed on my mac and it allows me to run any windows program side by side with my mac programs in what they call a virtual machine. sounds crazy, huh? basically, i can use safari and internet explorer at the same time on the same computer! it's totally worth the money and really, the program isn't that expensive.

I've been a mac-addict for years now.. and haven't found a good tool. But this is Bloggers problem, not Apples. Blogger needs to get with the picture! And running parallels is just silly, it wastes precious memory. Embrace the mac!

Sorry for the rant.

I write my posts in the post editor and I hit preview a lot. If you do get the weird spacing or pictures that won't align, highlight the problem area & click the button that looks like a T with a line & X underneath it. That button removes the formatting, and will fix the problem. You'll have to delete the extra spaces, but it cleans up the text & photos for you. Hope this helps!

I completely agree with you. I feel that my dreams have been thwarted by real world encounters. I finally found some great Bridal Hairstyles , then I find out that I have to wear my fiance's mother's hair accessory. Oh well such is life. Thanks for sharing this post.
