Some days I wonder what it would be like to live the life of a gypsy. That’s right – a gypsy. I’m not talking about the modern-age “traveler” that you see on TLC’s “My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding” but the real, traditional gypsy.
I wonder what it would be like to live in a caravan. A quaint, little space that took me all over, wherever my heart led me to. I would be surrounded by flickering candles, warm lanterns, and smooth, rich wood.
Inside my caravan, you would find all things welcoming. Bright colors, intricate beading, plush pillows and throw blankets.
And lastly, I would adorn myself with layer upon layer of soft, billowy fabric; with the intricate beading and lots of jewels.
But, aside from all the colors and textures and bold richness, I’d have that overwhelming sense of freedom.
I could go wherever the wind would take me.
And, as soon as my time was done in one place, it would be on to the next.
There, I could learn and rediscover all those little simplicities in life.
I’d find peace within my soul and peace within the little caravan I called “home.”
Those things within my four little walls – the plush pillows, the fuzzy blankets, the glowing lanterns – they would all remain the same while everything on the outside changed.
I’m sure as I traveled to new places, I’d collect things along the way.
Things to remind me of where I’ve been and where I’ve yet to go.
“We are all wanderers on this earth.
Our hearts are full of wonder, and our souls are deep with dreams.”

Ummm... Crazy!! I have always wanted to be a gypsy too ha :) I love this whole post. I think we would make great gypsies!!
what a fun post! are those caravans old train cars?
The one picture reminds me of the boxcar children books. Did every kid dream of having that type of freedom?
What a poetic thought. :) It speaks to a case of wanderlust. A thirst for something new. It looks like such fun. Would you bring anyone with you? A lifestyle like that sounds like the perfect way to heal a broken soul. Or at least, an unplanned trip if you can't really justify leaving everything behind for a caravan lifestyle ;). I like this post! It really made me think.
I love the gypsy headbands and I love the caravan inspiration. Kind of reminds me of Water for Elephants.

Love this.. :D
I think I would love this. I can imagine Robert and Olive and I traveling the world, just living life as it should be lived. I could write all the time! And there would be so much inspiration to pull from too.
Fabulous post my dear. Thanks for giving me something to think about this weekend :)

I could definitely be a gypsy... for a day or two. Then I'd probably be bored out of my mind. I wouldn't hate the traveling though!
Bright colors, sparkles, and flowey clothes. Love it!
I wish I was spontaneous enough to even consider this lifestyle! You sure made it look dreamy though! :)
i feel that all of us have a bit of a wanderer inside too! part of me loves the hippie look and the hippie way of life...i just can't pull it off! love the headband...
those gypsy head scarves are amazing!
LOVE this!!! I have always been a total spontaneous, sporadic kind of girl, too!! Like, jump up at 10pm and decide to drive 4 hours to go visit someone. Yea, that's totally me!!
I can't make you a caravan, but I can promise you lots of adventure if you came to visit/live with me for awhile! All of these colors/fabrics are very Asian inspired. <3 you
I bet your caravan would be adorable!
