Now here is where some of you might start to think I'm crazy. I whole-heartedly believe that we can communicate with spirits on the other side. Our conversations may not be as detailed as they are with say, the Long Island Medium or John Edward, but I believe it's possible for them to still reach us somehow.
I'm working on making myself open to that spiritually, mentally, and physically and know that one of the main ways is to meditate. However, if you know me, then you know I have a hard time "letting" myself just relax and tune out the rest of the world.
I envision myself just finding a quiet space, lighting some candles [because that's a must] and just clearing my mind completely. I know it's going to take practice because I am QUITE the THINKER and the mere idea of not thinking is hard for me to imagine.
But, I know my mind needs it. I know my body needs it. I know my soul needs it. To just stop for a few moments and just be.
So, do you meditate? Have you tried it before? What are your suggestions? Music? Complete silence? Let the meditation begin...

Yoga! It's the best, calming and it helps just center yourself...your emotions, thoughts, just collects them all and brings me complete peace when I'm done. I like to do it in a class like at the gym or something because the ambience makes a huge difference (the music, instructor, etc). When you're done and leaving you literally feel like you're on a different planet, just at such peace and ready to take on anything because you're walking out with a refreshed, clear mind.
I would absolutely love to live on or near the beach & go out there every morning & night!! That would be the life!!!
I really love yoga! But I find I meditate best in silence, sitting outside... Obviously this is much easier in the spring/summer than it is the rest of the year. There is just something about sitting in my backyard with my eyes closed and the sunshine pouring over me it completes calms me and blanks my mind.
I actually use some awesome guided meditation podcasts to help me out in my meditative efforts. They have music in the background which is really nice. They're by Meditation Oasis if you want to check them out.
I also am a big yoga fan but I think it would be way more effective if I went to a studio where the practice was the stay and meditate after class instead of everyone jumping up and leaving almost immediately after the savasana. It's great for a quick refresh though!
I love to meditate. Go onto youtube (yes its weird lol) and search for "hot yoga music" or download some. Its great and peaceful. Concentrate on your breathing at all times when you're meditating and try and keep everything crossed if you're lying down. (like your arms and legs, the crossing of limbs will automatically relax you!)
Sometimes walking outdoors is a good way to clear your mind.
Yoga is a great way to prepare oneself for meditation; it originated because monks meditated for long periods of time and needed a way to not cramp up while sitting in one position while meditating.
But the very act of yoga can be meditative as well depending on the style of yoga you choose. I prefer and suggest trying Hatha yoga.
Hi there! I do yoga to bring me back to myself, and just be. When I'm near the ocean I sit under the stars and just listen. Sadly for now, that doesn't happen often enough.
I just found your blog and am so glad I did! I lived in DC for college and it has a huge place in my heart. It's where I found myself, and became the person I am today! I can't wait to read about your life there! Also, I'm obsessed with turquoise, coconut and am terrified of flying. So after reading your about me, I think I'm going to really love your blog! :)
I would totally try out a hot yoga class if I were you......yoga is the BEST! I am actually looking forward to moving so I can get into another class again! You can relax and think all while getting strong.... its amazing!
